I can see why this happened, I hated the season finale it just kept getting worse. At least the season was good though.

had potential i liked the second season much more then the first but i agree the lead actor was weak and the fall of the show think it may have kept going if they casted a better lead

I loved this show BUT totally HATED how they turned it into unsuited Power Rangers at the end of the newest season.

My least favorite of the franchise, but the developments with the female characters were just getting good in S2. That is a similar problem with the also-cancelled Luke Cage-- I want to know what happens to the women who supported the super heroes through all their shit. And now we'll never know.

The second season was such a great improvement. The finale got me really excited for a third. May have not have been the best show, but I liked the world and characters more so than Luke Cage and Jessica Jones season 2. Hopefully Netflix has a plan and are moving towards both Heroes for Hire and Daughters of the Dragon.

I didn't like the direction the show was going in but I did like the show. I think a lot of viewers, unfamiliar with Iron Fist, just couldn't follow. I'm hoping the cancellation of this and Luke Cage leads to a new series..... Heroes for Hire.

I did not see this coming.
Not gonna lie, I haven't got around to season 2 yet, but I enjoyed season one.
Wonder if they will then cancel 'the Defenders'?

However for those in too much of a worry, Danny Rand will be in another Tv show by Netflix, as will his Gf and that cop in 'Daughters of the dragon' - Watch this space

Bare in mind I havent seen the entire season 2 of this or Luke Cage yet, but I had hoped there would have been an additional season. Oh well

@Snootz I stopped watching Luke Cage after the 3rd episode in season 2 and I was a HUGE fan of season 1, couldn't wait until season 2. But that very unconvincing, borderline offensive so-called Jamaican accent by those actors turned me off for good. I'm a Jamaican so it was a lil offensive to me.

I kind of felt this was going to happen when I first reviewed this show. This sort of stereotypical Kung Fu mélange is a bit too unsophisticated for even a Marvel audience. I guess the character who first appeared in 1974 was a product of the Karate craze of the time, and the popularity of Bruce Lee, and David Carradine in his Kung Fu television series. With the advent of the UFC and numerous videos of so-called Kung Fu masters, being owned by mixed martial arts practitioners, has demystified the idea of the invincible Kung Fu fighter. Moreover, this series did itself no service by pulling out bits and pieces of Bullshido out of the martial arts lexicon, and hand feeding it to us like Chop Suey made out of Sideshow Charlie Chans pseudo Eastern clown farts.
Every Asian knows Karate, and no one simply shoots someone in the world of Iron Fist. The premise of the show is all about the mystic fighting arts of Asia, and yet the protagonist is a rich white guy. Because as we all know, a white dude can always out fight a Chinese man, if he also knows all that tricky Kung Fu shit as well. In that sense, Iron Fist is actually racist. In addition, if you are a fan of this show. Then sorry Fisty dudes, but you are part of the problem.

At least Netflix listens to its viewers. This and Luke Cage were the two most weak links of the MARVEL-verse. Will be interesting to see if Jessica Jones survives much longer. It's always been Daredevil and the Punisher as the strongest in my opinion.

This was painful to watch. I felt I had to as this was one of my favorite comics growing up, but while the acting really took it down, the plots and writing were not much better. I'm glad it's gone, but if someone did a decent remake of it, I'd be up for watching.

Bit disappointed with this one. Season one might have been a bit underwhelming, but season two was much better for me. Was stoked to see Typhoid Mary being introduced and there was some good development with Ward and some of the other supporting characters. Granted, some elements were a little off, but personally I was really looking forward to a third season.

Omg yes Mary was my favourite part of the season and the developments with Ward made me look forward to his character's future but I don't like what they did with the fist at the end, that was quite frustrating. Another thing that really bothers me is that Danny has been training to control his emotions and training in martial arts, preparing for the Iron Fist but somehow he doesn't seem to have any control over his emotions, he doesn't seem that much better than anyone else at martial arts and he seems to have no clue of any Iron Fist abilities other than "it can punch stuff".

I think I may have the answer to why it was cancelled.

Disney, who own the rights to Marvel, is preparing to launch it's own streaming service to rival Netflix.
Either Disney have pulled the plug, or Netflix will have, so it isn't financing one of it's soon to be competitors.

@Snootz I just literally found out the news under another comment section about Disney making its own streaming service, but what I don't understand is why they'd do it now when their streaming service is not even up and running yet? Also, why hasn't Netflix cancelled the other Marvel shows that's left? I always wondered why Disney never had it's own streaming service, they clearly have more than enough material for it but I'm puzzled with the timing, why not earlier, why now? And what's gonna happen to their shares with Hulu as well?

@surrealisticuniverse My guess is because the seasons have just finished and they want to cancel it before much money goes into another season. And probably to make people feel like they want to watch Marvel shows since they haven't for a few months so they'll buy the Disney streaming service without really thinking.

@surrealisticuniverse Whilst @BarkingAuto35 has a good point, there isnt tht many Marvel TV shows left out there.

Agents of Shield - The new seasons have been shortened, almost to half and after the previously announced two seasons come to an end, I suspect, so will this show, come to an end. The two pluses it has for this show is
1. It runs and ties in with the MCU movies
2. It brings in a lot of revenue, for everyone and is sold to a hell of a lot of stations/networks throughout the world.

The Gifted - Little said about this the better. I dont think many would notice if it got cancelled. Whilst it has it's fan viewings, it doesnt have the big cash earner heroes, or even any major known ones. At least Luke Cage, Iron fist etc are a known name, even if not a major character in the Marvel franchise. Therefore, it's better to make some money for Disney/Marvel off this, as let's face it, I dont think they would otherwise use this show premise for a long, long time. At least the Netflix characters, they can reuse.

Legion - Watch this space

Cloak and Dagger - Again these are not major or even well known Marvel characters. Unless you were a super, super Marvel nerd, who went out and bought every comic going, the average Joe would not know who these characters were. So again, better to make money as is, as they will no doubt be characters Disney Tv, wouldnt use for a long time, and would have swept under the carpet, to hide out of the way.

I'm not going to include Cartoons in this list as there is a lot of them. Cartoons are not big, major 'cash cows'. They are easily to replicate and only watched by kids, people with a lot of spare time, or again the super Marvel geeks. Cartoons dont have any major Tv stars that are paid super high wages, so are cheap (or cheaper) to make and don't bring in the sponsorship that Tv shows do.

Disney will be cancelling a lot of Netflix shows for several reasons
1. To reduce Netflix's advertisement sponsorship - Netflix are going down the route of bringing in advertisement revenue.
2. To reduce Netflix's subscriptions
3. Less Money Netflix has, the worse the shows are going to be and the higher the subscriptions.

As to why Disney didnt come up with it earlier. Before the last couple of years, Before Disney started to buy the likes of Lucus Films, Fox etc, they were known more for the kid films, which believe it or not wouldnt have made fantastic streaming shows. There is only so much you could have done with their characters. Such as Pinocchio's nose getting bigger in one episode is fine, but after 15, it can grow, rather tiresome. On top of that, you are limited to who wants kids Tv shows. Once you have reached a certain age, you no longer want to watch your old favourite cartoon show, meaning viewers are switching off as they are maturing, this also means you have to spend a lot more trying to get new viewers in, and the new viewers not understanding or getting into old premises etc and on top of that you again have age limits, A single middle aged man, who is earning $$$$ a month isnt going to be wanting to spend on some streaming site, he isnt going to enjoy etc.

Long story short, before Disney bought out other people, their options to stream were limited. At least now they have more variety, to bring in people of all ages, and to keep them there, without them running off, once they have matured.
